Gruenberg Ships Truck-In Vivarium Sterilizer to a Leading University
Gruenberg®, a leading industrial oven and sterilizer manufacturer, announced the international shipment of a Steri-Dry® truck-in vivarium sterilizer to a prominent university. This unit will be used for dry heat sterilization of polysulfone lab animal cages. Cage sterility verifications were completed at the factory and on-site to ensure operational effectiveness.
Designed with a modular split-line construction, this vivarium sterilizer meets the university’s architectural restrictions without requiring facility modifications for the installation. The unit is built in three sections with special interior joining flanges, making it easy to move into the facility while maintaining the high-quality construction of the chamber. The unit is also designed for pass-through operation to accommodate various loading and unloading configurations.
The interior dimensions are 34” W x 96” D x 84” H and has a load capacity for two fully loaded product trucks. The chamber is constructed with continuously welded stainless-steel liners to prevent contaminants from entering. A viewing window on each door provides clear visibility into the chamber for monitoring of the sterilization process. For added safety, an interior door lock override and a system abort cable are included to shut down the sterilization process and unlock the doors in case of an emergency.
The Steri-Dry unit features a maximum temperature of 400°F and utilizes a high-volume horizontal airflow configuration to ensure even heat distribution. Temperature uniformity of ± 5ºF at 320°F was verified with a 12-point test after a soak length of 60 minutes. The control panel is CE certified and labeled. It is equipped with an Allen Bradley PLC control system with ethernet communications and dual 10” Operator Interface Terminal screens for intuitive operation. A panel-mounted thermal printer is included for event logging.
“Our Steri-Dry Vivarium Sterilizers are designed with both ease of operation and installation in mind. For this unit, the dual 10” touchscreen displays offer user friendly system control, while the split style construction allows for efficient installation even in buildings with architectural restrictions.” - Jason Cillo, Gruenberg Product Manager
