Gruenberg Ships Truck-In Vivarium Sterilizer with Pass Through Operation to a Leading University
Gruenberg®, a leading industrial oven and sterilizer manufacturer, announced the shipment of a Steri-Dry® truck-in vivarium sterilizer to a leading research university. This dry heat sterilizer is specifically designed for the sterilization of polysulfone lab animal cages. Cage sterility verifications were completed both at the factory and on-site to ensure operational effectiveness.
Designed for ease of installation, this sterilizer utilizes a split line construction consisting of multiple modules connected with special interior joining flanges. This modular design allows the unit to be moved into facilities with architectural restrictions such as narrow elevator or doorway dimensions and eliminates the need for any facility modifications. It is also engineered for pass-through operation, supporting multiple loading and unloading configurations for up to eight (8) customer-supplied trolleys. A viewing window is located on the face of each door and an interior door lock override system provides added safety during operation.
The sterilizer has a maximum temperature of 400°F and interior chamber dimensions of 92” W x 185” D x 84” H. It maintains precise temperature uniformity of ±5°F at 300°F. The interior consists of continuously welded stainless-steel liners, effectively preventing contaminants from entering, while the high-capacity PRECISIONFLO® horizontal airflow system guarantees even heat distribution throughout the entire chamber.
The control panel is UL508A certified and features two operator interface terminals with Ethernet connectivity, enabling data logging, recipe management, and advanced diagnostics for heater and fan circulation. A panel-mounted thermal printer is included for event logging, while dual 10” OIT screens paired with an Allen Bradley PLC offers intuitive and efficient operation. The sterilizer is equipped with two dry contacts for seamless integration with the customer’s building maintenance system: one contact signals the system when the sterilizer is in cycle with low exhaust flow, and the other provides an alert during the cooling phase with high exhaust flow.
