Gruenberg® Ships Truck-In Vivarium Sterilizer to University for Research
Gruenberg®, a leading industrial oven and sterilizer manufacturer, announced the shipment of a truck-in style Steri-Dry® vivarium sterilizer to a leading research university. The dry heat sterilizer will be used for the sterilization of polysulfone cages for lab animals. A factory cage sterility verification was performed on the unit prior to shipment and after installation at the customer’s facility.
The sterilizer features a maximum temperature rating of 400° F, and two interior chambers with dimensions of 39” W x 92” D x 82” H. The unit can accommodate various combinations of clean/soiled bulk carts or IVC racks. A high-volume PRECISIONFLO® horizontal airflow system ensures uniform heat distribution throughout the chamber while the continuously welded stainless-steel liner prevents any contaminants from entering the chamber.
This sterilizer is designed with four individual doors with viewing windows. Two of the doors are on the load end, and two are on the unload end, which provides pass-through operation either direction. An interior door lock override cable is located in each work chamber and, when pulled, shuts down the system and unlocks the doors. The Steri-Dry unit also utilizes a split line construction of three (3) sections connected with interior joining flanges. This modular design allows for the unit to easily be moved into the university without any facility modifications even if there are move-in restrictions like elevator and door passage sizes.
The control panel is UL508A certified, and a touchscreen operator interface with Ethernet connectivity, data logging, and recipe management capabilities controls the temperature. The operator interface utilizes an Allen Bradley Micro850 PLC with dual 10" OIT screens for ease of operation and provides advanced heater and fan circulation diagnostics. A panel-mounted thermal printer was provided and used for event logging. The unit is also able to be integrated with the customer’s building maintenance system.
